Overview
Unknown attackers gained unauthorized access to one of eScan’s regional update servers and placed a malicious update package into the official distribution path. The trojanized update was served to clients who downloaded updates from that cluster during a limited window on January 20, 2026. The malicious update replaced a legitimate component and established persistence, disabled future updates, and pulled additional payloads from attacker-controlled infrastructure.
